DSM Composite Resins sells plasticizers business
DSM Composite Resins has sold its Uraplast polymeric plasticizer resins business to Italian company Polynt S.p.A. The Uraplast polymeric plasticizer resins are used in a variety of applications, including PVC. DSM Composite Resins says that it is concentrating on its core composites activities.
Polynt S.p.A. is a speciality chemical company and a major supplier of plasticizers and is active in the niche market of chemical intermediates for polymer production. According to Polynt, the acquisition of the Uraplast polymeric plasticizers business is an excellent fit and an attractive addition to its current portfolio.
The sale transfers all intellectual property, including rights to the Uraplast trade name, together with product formulations, production procedures and commercial information; as well as inventories of finished stock and raw materials.
No employees, production facilities or fixed assets will transfer with the business. To ensure continuity of supply to customers, DSM will continue to produce Uraplast products at its facility in Schoonebeek, the Netherlands, under a toll agreement between the two companies. This will continue until such a time that Polynt has fully migrated the new products and technologies.
