Premix Oy acquires majority stake in Optatech

Premix Oy, a supplier of conductive plastics headquartered in Finland, has bought 89% of the shares in Finnish speciality plastics developer and producer Optatech Oy. The remaining 11% of the company is retained by Proventia Group, an environmental technology company.

Optatech’s main products include Pacrel® thermoplastic vulcanizate, a special acrylic modified elastomer, and Lubotene®, a special silicone grafted polyethylene designed for applications requiring low friction factor and release properties.

The company also has two joint ventures operating in China. Yangzhong Opta Chemical produces non-halogen flame retardant cable compounds and Nanjing Jinling Opta Polymer manufactures polypropylene/ethylene propylene diene monomer and the Pacrel base polymer. Premix hopes to use its resources to accelerate the growth of the Chinese joint ventures by producing its own products in China and to import grades that are currently being produced in China into Europe and the US.
