Flame retardant system developed for films
9 February 2006
US-based Polymer Products Company has developed a semi-transparent flame retardant system Endura FR-6973 for film that provides enhanced visibility and more vibrant colours.
The company says that until now, flame retardant systems for film resulted in opaque film. Using proprietary technology, Polymer Products has developed a translucent flame retardant system that provides enhanced visibility. This is often useful for safety and productivity reasons in construction or non-construction applications. The company adds that another benefit of the FR-6973 technology is more vibrant, less pastel colours when compared to traditional flame retardant systems. Endura FR-6973, used at 10-15% let down ratio in either a LDPE or LLDPE will pass NFPA 701 while giving over 85%, light transmission.
This product, like other brominated flame-retardants, should be used in conjunction with acid resistant UV stabilizers.
