O'Neil Color and Compounding launches three new flame retardants

O’Neil Color and Compounding, manufacturer of colour concentrates, plastics additive masterbatch and speciality compounds, is expanding its product line to include three new flame retardant compounds.

Faralloy™ PS155 is a high-impact resin for use in injection moulding of critical appearance parts and structural foam moulding. The flame retardant polystyrene can also be coloured to customer requirements. Faraprene™ 915 is a non-halogen thermoplastic olefin for jacketing applications requiring flame retardancy, low smoke generation and good abrasion resistance, such as natural gas piping and cables. Faralloy™ PP183 high-impact resin has excellent processability, high strength/stiffness balance and no surface blooming. It is available in any colour and is for use in large parts that are difficult to mould, such as battery cases, motor housings and electronic enclosures.

The company is also working on products to help wood-plastic composite manufacturers meet the new Urban-Wildland Interface regulations in California and the Western United States for flammability of WPC decking products.

“We have several new products in trial at this time that we have high hopes for in solving this issue for the WPC market,” comments Tim Talbott, business development manager for Specialty Compounds. “This is an urgent need and we feel strongly that our technology can assist WPC manufacturers in meeting these regulations.”
