ICL acquires Supresta

Israel Chemicals Ltd (ICL) has signed an agreement with flame retardant manufacturer Supresta Holdings LLC to purchase all of the equity interests of Supresta LLC.

Supresta was established in 2004 with the acquisition of the operations from Akzo Nobel. It has a plant in the US and one in Germany, and a portfolio of over 80 phosphorus-based products that are used as flame retardants for polyurethane foam and engineering resins, and as plasticizers for the plastic industry, amongst other uses. ICL intends to integrate Supresta’s activities into ICL Industrial Products. Through the integration, ICL expects to expand its range of flame retardant products to include products for polyurethane foam and engineering plastics.

The purchase price is US$352 million, subject to certain adjustments, and the transaction is anticipated to close late in the summer.
