Anti-blocker improves processing and conveyance of TPE and TPR

28 September 2006

Axel Plastics Research Laboratories has introduced a new anti-blocker, MoldWiz® ABC-15, designed to improve processing and conveyance of thermoplastic elastomers and rubber.

MoldWiz® ABC-15 is a water-borne formulation of emulsified organic fatty acid, esters and amine with wetting agents and surfactants. Typically, the anti-blocker is used in the cooling bath during the resin pelletizing process, imparting a surface treatment to the finished pellets that helps to prevent agglomeration of the pellets in shipping and storage. The anti-blocker can also be used as a surface treatment for tacky elastomers, by simply spraying or dipping to deposit a light film on the surface.

The company says that the use of MoldWiz® ABC-15 to improve processing and conveying of sticky resins poses no risk to secondary moulding processes; the formulation is free of metallic stearates and silicone and is safe for food contact in accordance with CFR chapter 21 under parts 175.300.
