Süd-Chemie anticipates high hydrotalcite demand

16 November 2006

Süd-Chemie’s hydrotalcite production is set to rise in response to increasing demand worldwide for heavy-metal free PVC additives. Production of hydrotalcite at Moosburg in Germany will increase threefold by 2008, from 5,000 tons to 15,000 tons per year.

Hydrotalcite is a heavy-metal free filler used as a stabilizer in cables, plastic sheets, foil and profiles. Sud-Chemie expects high growth rates in demand for its SORBACID® and HYCITE® products over the coming years as hydrotalcite continues to replace lead-based PVC additives.
