NYCO launches new wollastonite grades

NYCO® has introduced two new products - NYGLOS® 1000 and NYGLOS® MD1000. The company says that these ultrafine non-directional wollastonite grades are available uncoated and chemically modified and are designed to replace expensive chemically modified calcined clay or other platy type minerals in glass/mineral compounded engineering plastics, alloys and blends. Targeting automotive, durable and construction related applications, both grades have been found to meet or exceed physical and mechanical properties while providing improved surface appearance.

The company adds that it is noted that tool shrinkage meets existing mould dimensions and these wollastonite products are considered a direct drop in for existing applications. The raw material cost for NYGLOS 1000 and NYGLOS MD1000 promotes significant savings in compounding and unit cost which address the need and OEM demand to reduce composite cost for existing and next generation compounds.

NYCO’s surface modification technology is tailored to the polymer and application addressing both physical properties and processing requirements. This allows the compounder to maximize extruder throughput, resulting in further reduction of compounding and unit cost.
