New line gives PET reflective metal look

Custom-colour and special effect masterbatch supplier Ampacet has launched LiquidMetal™ Colors, a new effect line that gives packaging made with blow moulded and extruded polyethylene terephthalate (PET) the look of highly reflective metal.

The masterbatches have been developed around Ampacet’s Formula X™ PET technology platform, which eliminates the need to pre-dry PET colours, and allows for feeding at the extruder throat. The technology is also said to reduce feed-throat clogging, screw slippage and improve colour dispersion. The line includes six colours – brass, chrome, copper, black onyx, graphite and gun metal blue.

The company says the line was designed to meet the demand for high-end plastic packaging that replicates polished metal for cosmetics, skin- and hair-care products and other health and beauty aids, as well as for speciality foods, beverages and car-care products.
