Coperion develops melt pump for twin-screw compounder

Coperion Werner & Pfleiderer has developed a melt pump for its twin-screw compounder (ZSK), enabling the company to cover the entire process chain from melting to pelletizing with equipment of its own.

Within the Coperion Melt Pump (CMP), a pair of gears with straight involute toothing rotates in polymer-lubricated hydrodynamic bearings. These components are enclosed in a housing and attached to the sides by threaded shaft seals installed in cover plates mounted on either side of the housing. The technical design, such as the type of cooling system and gear clearance, varies according to the application and product. The CMP is also available with either a single or double shaft drive with approved components. All of the core components for the pump are manufactured at Coperion Werner & Pfleiderer’s own production facility.

Maag Pump Systems Textron AG will remain as Coperion Werner & Pfleiderer’s strategic partner in supplying melt pumps for production lines that have to meet output requirements of up to 80 tonnes/hour.
